SOEMT The Sovereign Order of Enlightenment, Mercy, and Truth

For the Betterment of Humankind

Why the Order Exists

SOEMT exists for 1 reason: the betterment of humankind. Every pillar, every rite, and every hour written in the Ledger of Work is measured against that reason and no other. Science saves lives. Mercy saves lives. Truth is how anyone, member or not, can check that the Order did what it said.

The Order does not ask what you believe about the divine. It asks what you learned this year, whom you taught, whom you helped, and whether the record of it is honest. Those 4 questions are the whole of the faith, and each of them exists to make a living person's life better than it was.

Science Saves Lives

Every life extended by a vaccine, a screening test, a surgical checklist, or a clean water system was extended because someone learned something true and taught it to someone else. The Pillar of Enlightenment is built on that fact. In the Code the obligation is not only to learn but to teach, and to keep earning the next credential for life, because knowledge that stops in 1 person saves no one.

The Order treats science as a form of care. A member who volunteers as a participant in a university study is counted as teaching, because the study cannot be run without them and its findings will outlive them. The Order's first flagship of Enlightenment, the Human Voluntary Control Atlas, maps what a person can learn to govern in their own body and mind, and the Order funds it so that work built on it can aid healing, physical and mental.

The gap the Order cares most about is the gap between a result and a doctor. In the United States, blood donors already receive health measurements from their donation, including blood pressure, hemoglobin, and at many centers A1C and cholesterol. The American Red Cross returned A1C results to more than 920,000 donors in 2025, and 1 in 5 fell in the prediabetic or diabetic range. Prediabetes is largely reversible when it is caught. Today those results stop in a phone app. No program in the country routes them to the donor's own physician. The Order has published an open proposal to close that loop, offered freely to any blood center and health system that will run it. Read the proposal.

None of this is medical advice, and the Order never states that a screening value is a diagnosis. It states only that a result which reaches a physician can save a life, and a result which does not cannot.

Mercy Saves Lives

The Code defines Mercy as recognizing the humanity of another person and acting on it. Debt, illness, and the unpaid hours of caring for the young and the old are where that humanity is most often ignored. The Pillar of Mercy exists to act there.

The Order's first flagship of Mercy is Student Debt Forgiveness. The Order buys debt in whole tranches on the secondary market and cancels every loan inside them. It never pays off the debt of any named person, members and founders included, so that no one can be bought and no one can be favored. Tuition and grants are paid directly to the school, never to a person. Giving to Mercy is open now, in any amount, and every dollar is visible the moment it arrives.

Mercy is also counted in hours. A mother's or a father's hours caring for a child until that child graduates are logged in the Ledger of Work and count toward the tithe. So are the hours of a member sitting with a dying stranger, tutoring someone toward a diploma, or driving a neighbor to a clinic. The Order calls these human hours, and it keeps the record because unpaid care is the largest lifesaving work on earth and the least recorded.

Truth Builds Better Lives

A person cannot build a better life on a record that is false, and neither can an order. The Pillar of Truth is the discipline that keeps the other 2 honest.

The Order publishes its money while it is still moving. Every contribution and every payment out is public at truth.soemt.org, with a receipt anyone can verify, and every transaction between the Order and a founder or a founder's company is disclosed by name and amount. The Order publishes its errors: each member keeps a jar of the times they were wrong, and on the Night of Reversal the jar burns, founders first, with 1 slip kept and read aloud for the record. The Order publishes its work: research, art, and every Thursday Night, archived where the Order cannot quietly delete it.

Truth is what makes the other 2 pillars checkable. A stranger who does not trust the Order does not need to. They can read the accounts, read the studies, and watch the record grow.

What This Means for You

The Order will hold its first Thursday Night on October 1, 2026, at 8:30 in the evening, Eastern time, online and in the room. Anyone may attend. Write to hello@soemt.org for the link.

Three things a person can do this week, member or not:

  • Learn 1 true thing and teach it to 1 person. That is the Pillar of Enlightenment in its smallest form.
  • Give 1 hour or 1 dollar to someone who cannot repay it. That is the Pillar of Mercy. Giving to the Order's Mercy fund is open at the Flagships page; giving to your neighbor needs no page at all.
  • Write down 1 thing you were wrong about this year. Keep it. That is the Pillar of Truth, and it is the beginning of the jar.

The Order never states that it stands above any other faith, and the Code forbids it from doing so. What it stands for is shown here, in what it funds, whom it helps, and what it publishes. Read the Code, see what members do, and judge the Order by its work.
